What is SKY?
This is a digital television service that you get through a satellite dish. A broadband and telephone service is also offered to Sky customers when a TV package has been bought.
How much does it cost?
Sky TV is run just like a subscription service. You can get various packages ranging from £17 to £47 a month. You must obligate yourselves for a minimum 12 month contract. The satellite dish is installed by Sky engineers which will cost £30.
What equipment do I need?
You will need a mini dish which you will get for free with a subscription and a Sky digital box.
How is Sky TV installed?
This is all done by a Sky engineer. You are then able to keep the equipment.
How many channels will I be able to get?
This basically depends upon which package you choose. You are able to get over 200 free TV channels. You can get an additional 160 channels which include News, Sky movies and Kids and then you can get 80 radio channels.
Does SKY offer an HDTV service?
Yes, Sky does offer an HD service. You will need to get an HD ready television plus a sky+ HD box. This has all of the Dky+ features plus double the storage capacity that you can get with a regular Sky+ box. In order to get HD viewing, you must have HD Mix. (£10 a month extra)
What other services does SKY have?
• Sky+ - This is a TV recorder and a digital receiver all in one. This allows you to record two programmes simultaneously, pause an rewind live TV, at the touch of a single button you can record a selected series and you are also able to store 40 hours of programming.
• Multi-room – You will be able to watch Sky TV in various rooms around your house.
• If you happen to subscribe to a Sky TV package, Sky TV will also offer its customers broadband and telephone service.
• Other benefits – Interactive TV, customer support, seven-day-on-screen Television guide, monthly customer magazine and parental control.
• Given a month’s notice, you may get the chance to change your TV package.
