Roger Ross Williams, the director of the Oscar winning short documentary Music by Prudence, may have another golden statuette in a few weeks time, as his latest film is up the “Best Documentary” Academy Award.
Life, Animated is an adaptation of a book by Pulitzer Prize-winning US journalist Ron Suskind, and tells the story of his son Owen. Owen has autism and has struggled throughout his life when it comes to communicating. However, they eventually found that is able to interact with the world using animated Disney movies. The film tells how he has been able to progress with life, although there are still some areas he struggles with.
Will this film with the Oscar? Well, Williams has already won a “Best Director” award for his work on it at Sundance, so the chances are good.
