It’s six months till the 3D re-release of James Cameron’s Titanic. I can’t wait to be bored in 3D.
In the mean time, here’s Jim himself talking about why he’s decided to rerelease it and reflecting on the film 15 years on. To be fair, the underwater sections and the huge set pieces, if done well, will look incredible and if anyone knows their way around 3D it’s him.
I have to disagree with his comment that 3D “enhances small human interaction because it feels like you’re really there”. It’s scenes that take place in a naturally three-dimensional plane that feel to me to work the best: flight, space or underwater (Sanctum 3D had its flaws but the 3D was impressive).
Titanic 3D will be released April 2012.
