Alan Carr Quits Radio Show To Focus On TV Chat Show

A face for radio...but he's back on the box!

Alan Carr has quit his Radio 2 show to focus on delivering top notch television.

After three years presenting a Saturday slot on the station, the star has decided he wants to “reclaim his weekendsâ€? and focus on his Channel 4 chat show, Chatty Man.

The bespectacled funny man, said: “I’ve loved every minute of it but it’s time to reclaim my weekends.

“I wish Radio 2 every success but I’ll listen from my home in the future instead.”

His co-hosts on the show “Going Out With Alan Carr” have included Emma Forbes and, more recently, TV’s Melanie Sykes.

Following his National Television Award for best entertainment show for Chatty Man, he will be focusing all his energy on chattering to high profile guests.

Recent guests have included Lady Gaga, Adele, Mariah Carey, Peter Kay and Ruth Jones.

Radio 2’s Lewis Carnie commented: “We’d like to thank Alan for his contribution over the past three years. Alan and his co-presenter, Mel Sykes, have made a terrific contribution to Saturday evenings on Radio 2.”

Carr is the latest big name to depart the broadcaster following exits from Zoe Ball in February and Alan Titchmarsh at the end of 2011.
