It has been reported that Amy Pond and Rory Williams are set to leave Doctor Who at the end of the current series with writers deciding to ‘rest’ the characters.
The married on-screen couple (played by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) will reportedly decide that the Tardis is an unsuitable place to raise young Melody Pond – who was kidnapped by the villainous Madame Kovarian and revealed to be recurring character River Song (note the cryptic pseudonym) – and will return to Earth after the autumn run of episodes.
“There are going to be a lot of tears in the finale,” a source told The Daily Star. “The Doctor will set off in the TARDIS for his next adventure on his own. Amy and Rory will be reunited with their baby Melody Pond and they make a decision to stay on Earth to settle down as a family.”
“TV bosses are aware the couple have been popular so this won’t be the last you see of them,” added the insider.
