Arlene Phillips: ‘I Have To Put Alesha On Mute’

Arlene Phillips has admitted that she turns the sound off when it’s Alesha Dixon’s turn to judge on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing.

Phillips said in an interview with The Sun: “Whenever Alesha starts judging, I have to put her on mute.” OTB reckons she’s not alone.

Phillips was replaced on the Strictly judging panel by Dixon in 2009 amid claims of ageism at the BBC, after Dixon won the show in 2007. Phillips is 66, while Mis-Dixon (a former member of Mis-Teeq) is 31.

Phillips writes her own Stricly Come Dancing column in The Sun, which frequently criticises Dixon’s comments and scores. She now judges the BBC’s So You Think You Can Dance , the second series of which starts airing this Saturday.

Well-timed comments then, eh Arlene?
