Paint me green and call me the Hulk, that’s a turn up for the books. Who would have thought that Marvel would want to make a sequel to the film with the most successful opening box office of all time (that’s a paltry $207m by the way)? Oh right, yeah, everyone.
Well, it’s officially happening as Disney head honcho Bob Iger has said that a sequel is “in the works”. They’ve got other properties on their minds first though what with Iron Man 3, Captain America 2 and Thor 2 still to get out there.
And there’s as yet no official word on who will write and direct although surely given the Avengers‘ monumental critical and commercial success, they should probably build a massive gold statue of Joss Whedon outside their HQ and start praying to it immediately.
