BBC Axes My Family

After 11 series, and more than 100 episodes, the BBC have decided to say goodbye to the Harper family and cancel BBC1’s My Family.

The long-running series starring Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wannamaker as Ben and Susan Harper began in 2000, and has been a flagship sitcom for the BBC for 11 years. BBC1 Controller Danny Cohen said: “Now that all the Harper children have fled the nest we feel it’s time to make room for new comedies on BBC1.” He confirmed that the next series, airing this summer, will be the last.

We could expect to see BBC2 comedy Miranda taking over My Family‘s prime time slot, as the British Comedy Award-winning show will be transferring from BBC2 to BBC1 for a third series this year.
