Big Brother ‘Most Complained About Show Of Decade’

EastEnders may have shot into an early lead in the tens (what are we calling this decade anyway?) but the show lagged way behind its reality rivals in the noughties..

Big Brother was confirmed as the winner of the rather dubious “most complained about programme of the decade” award by a manically busy OfCom this week, after records show that it attracted 57,942 complaints. Over 44,000 of those were generated by the Shilpa Shetty racial bullying scandal in 2007.

X Factor was well behind in second place and Jerry Springer The Opera pipped Corrie and Sachsgate to third position.

The Metro reports that controversial comic Frankie Boyle should provide competition for the Walford based soap in 2011 after it was confirmed that he will be appearing live on British television later in the month. Online reports claim he is set to appear at the Comedy Awards and C4 are expected to add a ‘safety valve’ time delay, in a bid to avoid controversy.
