Producer Edward Pressman is remaking stuff all over the place. He’s already got The Crow under his wing which is due to shoot in January next year with Bradley Cooper in negotiations for the title role but now it seems he’s keen to remake Jean Claude Van Damme classic Bloodsport.
The story will follow an American who goes to Brazil to recover from the violence he has experienced in Afghanistan only to get involved in a martial arts contest.
Phillip Noyce has signed on to direct – not a bad choice as he’s had some mild success with Angelina Jolie’s Salt last year. Robert Mark Kamen has been drafted in for scripting duties and he’s had plenty of background in cinematic ass-kickery, scripting all three in the Statham-em-up series The Transporter, as well as the the Karate Kid trilogy (he was also responsible for the Karate Kid‘s recent foray back on to our screens, something I’m still trying to scrub from my brain).
