Broadcasting legend Bruce Forsyth has signed a new deal worth £500,000 to co-present the next series of Strictly Come Dancing – the Beebâs flagship celebrity talent show – when it returns later in the year.
Despite abundant rumours that the 140 year-old would be replaced for the next season (with Vernon Kay and John Barrowman supposedly leading the charge to replace him) BBC controller Danny Cohen has always stood by his man.
âBruce is a great entertainer and if he wants to keep doing Strictly the job is his,â? he had previously said, and he has stuck to his word.
Forsyth has been the face of the show along with Tess Daly since it launched in 2004 but had come under increased fire for his erratic, and some deemed âdodderingâ, presenting skills, yet he has proved his critics wrong with this new six-figure deal.
He had been sharing presenting duties with both Daly and Claudia Winkleman, who had been handling proceedings for the Sunday night results slot, and this arrangement is expected to continue.
