Steve Carell’s comedy Burt Wonderstone has finally grown some legs after a lengthy development stage. With news surfacing that Olivia Wilde and Steve Buscemi have been offered roles, the upcoming film is worth discussing.
Carell will play the title character, a popular Las Vegas magician who is upstaged by a new street illusionist, portrayed by a death-defying Jim Carrey.
Burt’s partner and assistant/girlfriend leave and he is forced to try and get his act together alone. The part of the ex-partner has been offered to Buscemi and hopefully the assistant will be played by Wilde. They could join a cast that already also includes James Galdofini as a casino owner.
Wilde has been popping up everywhere, with the recent In Time under her belt and four more movies slated for release in 2012. Buscemi has been busy with his lead role in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, which has been renewed for a third season.
Burt Wonderstone will begin shooting in January and is scheduled for release in 2013.
