Linus Roache and Geraldine Somerville will board the unsinkable ship in Julian Fellowesâs drama about the Titanic for ITV.
Celia Imrie, Toby Jones and Perdita Weeks have also been confirmed for the series which will produced by Nigel Stafford Clark, who has won three BAFTAs for, amongst others, Bleak House.
With next year marking the 100th anniversary of Titanicâs maiden, and only, Stafford Clark expects interest in the series to be high.
âThere is a lasting fascination with the Titanicâs one and only voyage,â? he said. âAnd never more so than in the year of its hundredth anniversary.â?
âWe will tell the story in a way that is bold, fresh and gripping, with all the human detail that television does so well. We hope it will be a fitting tribute to the events of that night.â?
