Chiles & Bleakley Sacked To Concentrate On ‘Peak-Time Commitments’

Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles can now look forward to a nice lie-in. It has been confirmed that the presenting duo have once and for all been axed from ITV’s struggling Daybreak after a stream of bad feedback and poor viewing figures.

It is difficult to feel sorry for the pair when they were lured over to greener pastures (or so they thought) with a reportedly combined sum of ten million, leaving the BBC and their successful One Show behind them. However, a programme with more competitions per fifteen minutes than actual content is enough to test anybody, and neither Bleakley or Chiles seemed to connect with their rapidly disappearing audience on Daybreak.

All is not lost though; ITV have released a statement saying that the pair are to leave in order to focus on ‘peak-time commitments’. This may be true for Christine as she has been announced as the new co-host on Dancing on Ice, replacing presenter Holly Willoughby (who is to front The Voice for the BBC, let’s hope her jump of ship doesn’t prove quite so dangerous…). Chiles still has The Sunday Night Show and football coverage commitments.

It’ll be interesting to see what ITV does with their mornings next. Perhaps we should wish the next lot the best of luck; they clearly don’t have the easiest task ahead of them.
