King’s Speech actor and British golden boy Colin Firth was considered for the role of supervillain Sebastian Shaw, in the upcoming prequel X Men: First Class.
Director Matthew Vaughn revealed to TotalFilm that the part was a toss-up. “There were only two people I wanted for Shaw, it was between Colin Firth and Kevin Bacon,” he explained.
Bacon eventually signed up, but Vaugn insisted that Firth wouldn’t done something “really special” with the role.
X Men: First Class will be in cinemas on June 2.
