Critics Tell Madonna: “W.E. Are Not Amused”

Madonna has condemned her directorial debut to die another day as she scrambles with studio executives to give W.E. another shot at success.

The film, chronicling the scandalous relationship of Wallis Simpson and Britain’s King Edward VIII which lead to his abdication in 1936, has been severely panned by critics at both the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals but this has not deterred the Material Girl.

One final edit is now schduled to take place. At least ten minutes expected to be cut from the film before its release to cinemas worldwide later this year.

According to the New York Post’s Page Six column, distributor Harvey Weinstein is working with Madonna and the film’s producers to edit the drama one final time.

W.E. will receive its U.K. premiere at the British Film Institute’s London Film Festival next month.

W.E. look forward to it…ish.
