Chesney Hawkesâ worsening ankle injury means only one thing â it is actually Chico time.
The flamboyant X-Factor competitor who appeared on our screens circa 2005 is being drafted in as a worthy Dancing on Ice replacement.
He said: âI wish Chesney all the best and a speedy recovery.
“I will not just be skating for myself I will be skating for Chesney as well and do him proud.”
*sob*
The singer of cheesey disco classic, The One and Only, Hawkes suffered a severe ankle sprain and a fractured fibula while practising basic steps for the ITV show. But during an emotional appearance on Daybreak this morning he vowed to return to the ice skating competition next year.
Chesney said: “I am gutted not to be taking part in Dancing on Ice. I was having a brilliant time and couldn’t wait to finally be skating live on national TV!
“It wasn’t even a spectacular fall, it was a slight stumble as I practised with my skating partner.â?
Not one to go down without a bit of a fight, Chesney glammed up his plaster cast for his TV appearance this morning.
He added: âWell, I’m missing out on the Spandex and the Lycra and everything, so I thought, ‘At least I can try and bling my cast upââ?.
The team are said to be âguttedâ? about the former popstar’s early exit.
Last night, host Phillip Schofield tweeted: âJust heard that poor Chesney Hawkes is too injured to continue on DOI, he’s so upset. That’s two celebs we’ve broken and we’re not on air!!â?.
Twitter was buzzing with the news about the DOI tragedy with Chesney trending for the first time since about 1991.
