The former Question Time presenter David Dimbleby will be the first guest host for the next series of Have I Got News for You in April.

The edition, airing on BBC One on 5th April at 21.00, will be the first in the 57th series of the long-running satirical panel game. As well as Dimbleby, the guest panellists will be journalist and current Strictly champion Stacey Dooley, and German stand-up comedian Henning Wehn. As ever, Ian Hislop and Paul Merton will be joining them.

In a press statement Dimbleby said: “It is an intriguing invitation. When chairing Question Time I became used to dealing with difficult panellists – but Ian Hislop and Paul Merton are another matter. They have turned disruptive subversion into an art form. It will be quite a challenge to keep the show on the road but whatever happens it will be fun.”
