David O. Russell is reportedly in line to direct Natalie Portman’s Jane Austen-inspired Pride And Prejudice And Zombies.
The Three Kings helmer is close to signing a deal to steer the movie, which is based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s book, according to website Pajiba.com.
Grahame-Smith’s story reimagines Austen’s literary heroine Elizabeth Bennet as a zombie-slaying young woman who finds herself caught in a viral outbreak in the 19th century.
Russell, whose last film was 2004’s I Heart Huckabees, recently worked on political comedy Nailed with Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel. However, the project collapsed mid-shoot due to financial problems.
