David Walliams Tipped To Fill Hoff-Shaped BGT Hole

After ditching David Hasselhoff in a bid to find someone “younger, fresher and more excitingâ€? for the Britain’s Got Talent judges panel, ITV seemed to have set their sights on Little Britain‘s comedy mincer David Walliams.

Insiders claim that the show’s bosses blamed the ex-Baywatch star for this summer’s slump in viewing figures and are keen to freshen up the line-up. Indeed the only judge assured of a spot in next year’s series is Michael McIntyre, as Amanda Holden will be heavily pregnant when the show begins again later this year.

“Given that the Hoff had a few problems understanding the British accent, Simon thinks it wise to employ a Brit,” a source told The Mirror. “James Corden would be great as he and Michael have a fantastic rapport, but James wants to focus on his acting.”

“David Walliams was approached before but turned it down. But now he’s happily settled, he is keen to explore new work opportunities. In addition, Simon and he are good friends.

“If Amanda decides to concentrate on motherhood, Billie Piper would be a fantastic replacement. They’re also looking at up and coming stars like Jessie J, who’d add a youthful element.â€?
