After ditching David Hasselhoff in a bid to find someone âyounger, fresher and more excitingâ? for the Britain’s Got Talent judges panel, ITV seemed to have set their sights on Little Britain‘s comedy mincer David Walliams.
Insiders claim that the show’s bosses blamed the ex-Baywatch star for this summer’s slump in viewing figures and are keen to freshen up the line-up. Indeed the only judge assured of a spot in next year’s series is Michael McIntyre, as Amanda Holden will be heavily pregnant when the show begins again later this year.
âGiven that the Hoff had a few problems understanding the British accent, Simon thinks it wise to employ a Brit,” a source told The Mirror. âJames Corden would be great as he and Michael have a fantastic rapport, but James wants to focus on his acting.”
âDavid Walliams was approached before but turned it down. But now heâs happily settled, he is keen to explore new work opportunities. In addition, Simon and he are good friends.
âIf Amanda decides to concentrate on motherhood, Billie Piper would be a fantastic replacement. Theyâre also looking at up and coming stars like Jessie J, whoâd add a youthful element.â?
