Former Desperate Housewivesâ star, Nicollete Sheridan, is locked in a fierce legal battle with the showâs executive producer, Marc Cherry.
The 48-year-old star, who played Edie Britt for five series of the hit US show, has accused Cherry of giving her a âhard whackâ? after she questioned a script in series five.
She also claims that the incident resulted in the violent and untimely death of her character in the same series.
The British-born actress is claiming £3.7million compensation for wrongful termination and battery.
âMr. Cherry stepped toward me and he took his right hand and he hit me upside the head,â? Sheridan said.
âIt was a nice wallop.
She added: âI was stunned, I could not believe he just hit me in the head. I could tell he was stunned.
âI told him, “You just hit me in the head, that is not OK.”‘
Mr Cherry and ABC have denied the charges following an investigation by the broadcaster which Sheridanâs defence lawyer, Mark Baute, later claimed was a âshamâ?.
Sheridanâs character was strangled, involved in a car crash and electrocuted before she was allowed to die in peace. A move which Sheridanâs defence team dubbed âridiculousâ?.
But Cherry has defended his initial âwhackâ? as âartistic direction” and said: âPeople die all the time in television.â?
The showâs long-standing stars, Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross, have all been named as potential witnesses. Be prepared for plenty more untimely deaths…
