Disney’s Hovercar Pops Up Again

Disney are revving up to get Matthew Riley’s young adult novel Hover Car Racer back into active development and they’ve hired Superman Returns/X2 writer Dan Harris to write the script.

The story will follow the conveniently named young lad Jason Chaser as he enters an academy that trains drivers for futuristic hover car races. It’s F-Zero the movie!

Disney bought the rights back in 2004 and had early drafts from David DiGilio, John Sayles and Blaise Hemingway but evidently their efforts were unsatisfactory. i Am Number Four writers Miles Millar and Alfred Gough will be on board as producers but there’s no word on a director or cast rumours yet.
