Obviously the logistical challenges of transmitting the Timelord and his mates live would far outnumber those faced by soap producers, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be something ‘live’ about next year’s highly-anticipated 50th anniversary Doctor Who episode according to Matt Smith.
âIt wonât just be a televised event, I think it will be a live event,” he said while chatting to Forbes over the weekend. “The way itâs transmitted on TV will hopefully be an inventive thing â something different.â?
Like Moffat, the star has been very tight-lipped when it comes to details, but he did tell Radio Times that he doubts the Doctor will be regenerating next year..
“We want to make the anniversary as big and bold and as brilliant as we can because, we hope, it can be one of the monumental bits of TV history,” he said. “But I doubt there’ll be a regeneration…”
It’s quite fortunate because that would be quite a tricky stunt in a live episode.
