Dr Who Christmas Confidential Axed

We heard that BBC3 spin-off series Doctor Who Confidential had been canned way back in September of this year, but we were informed that as it had already been made, we would at least be seeing the Christmas episode of the behind the scenes programme.

However bosses at the Beeb have revealed that the Yuletide episode – rumoured cost around £50k – of the planned spin-off series will not be making an appearance next month, sparking outrage with Doctor Who fans and licence fee payers alike.

“The biggest regret is the episode of Confidential we’ve filmed for this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special which now won’t be shown,” wrote series producer Gillane Seaborne in Doctor Who magazine. “So I guess in the fine traditions of Doctor Who, we now have our very own missing episode.”

Sources at the BBC were sending out mixed messages when The Sun spoke to them, with one claiming that they “had no knowledge” of the programme set to be hosted by Alastair Sooke. Another moved to deny the rumours that already completed programmes will be pulled..

“While Doctor Who Confidential has been decommissioned, all existing episodes will be shown,” said an insider, before adding. “But there is no Christmas special.”

Same difference.
