Maleficent, Disney’s live-action take on the capricious Sleeping Beauty villain has been gestating for over two years now. The script’s been written by Linda Woolverton (Beauty And The Beast, Alice In Wonderland) and Tim Burton and David O. Russell were once attached to direct with the hope that Angelina Jolie would take the lead role.
Since then, the director’s megaphone has passed to Robert Stromberg and Elle Fanning is now in talks to play Princess Aurora. There’s not much to go on for plot details at the moment other than it’ll tell the story from Maleficent’s point of view and will explore in more detail the relationship that the evil one has with her nemesis.
Shooting begins in London in June.
In the mean time Elle Fanning will next be seen in We Bought A Zoo which is out next week.
