Tom Cruise has been busy lately. He’s got a whole host of projects in the works (and will next be seen in theatre-to-screen adaptation Rock Of Ages). Two of them are sci-fis though – Oblivion alongside Olga Kurylenko and Morgan Freeman and All You Need Is Kill, which has just found its female lead in the shape of Emily Blunt.
It’s a long time coming as Doug Liman has been attached to direct since 2010 and Cruise has been on board since December. It’s adapated from the graphic novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka and sees a soldier killed in action fighting aliens and forced to relive that final battle again and again until it comes off correctly – sort of like a sci-fi Groundhog Day. If Blunt signs, she’ll be playing one of Cruise’s fellow troops.
However it turns out, Warner Bros. are clearly quite taken with her as they’ve been trying to pin her down for a few of their other projects including The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (currently on hold) and The Thin Man – a remake of the 1934 film which has Johnny Depp attached for the lead.
In the mean time, she’ll crop up in The Five-Year Engagement with Jason Segel and the eagerly anticipated Looper with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
