Sam Raimi did mention that he might possibly reboot The Evil Dead around the time Drag Me To Hell came out in 2009 (excellent by the way) but since then not much has been heard. That is until now, where Dread Central have the scoop that Bruce Campbell and co are gearing up for a fourth film in the franchise.
Apparently Sam Raimi’s long-time editor Bob Murawski is heading out to Detroit to start work on the new film which will apparently be “a small indie thing like the first two”.
Further to this Bruce Campbell himself (@GroovyBruce) tweeted: “Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell.”
So, that’s officially “remake”, not “sequel”. We’re not really sure how things could be done differently in that case but we’ll certainly be keen to find out.
In addition, the team over at Bloody Disgusting have word that the director will be newcomer Fede Alvarez whose short Panic Attack has impressed Raimi suffiiciently.
