Film to be made about the biggest shock in the Rugby World Cup

Eddie Jones Temuera Morrison

A film is in the works about one of the biggest upsets in the history of rugby union.

The Brighton Miracle (working title) will cover the events in which Japan (aka the Brave Blossoms) managed to beat two-time Rugby World Cup champions South Africa 34-32 in the 2015 tournament in England, the match taking place in the Amex Stadium, Brighton.

Filming is believed to start next year in Australia, overseen by Max Mannix. Temuera Morrison has been cast in the role of Eddie Jones, the then manager of the Japanese team who after the tournament became the manager of the England team, the English having been humiliated in the same tournament. Sam Neill has also been cast as Jones’s father.

Despite winning three of their four matches, Japan never made it to the group stages of the last world cup. However, they will be the host of next year’s tournament.
