Kit Harington, most famous for his portrayal of Jon Snow in HBO’s Game Of Thrones, has nabbed the leading part in Warner Bros’ upcoming Arthur and Lancelot.
The most recent adaptation of the legend will see Harington drawing on his TV experience as an illegitimate son turned sword-wielding hero.
Lancelot will be played by Joel Kinnaman, the star of AMC’s The Killing remake and the film will also briefly feature the still uncast Guinevere, who will have a larger role in any subsequent sequels.
Gary Oldman has been offered the role of Merlin, but has yet to accept and Warner have selected director David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers, The Change-Up) to turn the title into a lighthearted action-flick in the same vein as Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Homes.
Arthur and Lancelot is scheduled for a March 2013 release in the US.
