Gerard Butler Is Off On A Manhunt

Bearded man-beast, Gerard Butler, is rumoured to be in negotiations to star in action thriller Manhunt, according to reports by Deadline New York.

The project has been floating about for some time and as well as Butler it now has Breck Eisner (The Crazies) on board as director and IM Global providing the readies. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are penning the script, and both previously worked on action hit Children of Men.

The film features a team of FBI agents who have been packed off into the wilderness in the hopes of retrieving America’s most wanted man. But criminal James Tollan also happens to be a survival expert and, with the help of the local population, has managed to escape arrest so far. Once the team find themselves deep inside the woods of North Carolina it is a case of “the hunters become the hunted”.

There is no indication thus far as to whether Butler is going to play a burly FBI agent or the crafty crim. But with production due to begin at the end of this year, we won’t have long to wait to find out for sure. Either way, it’s going to involve testosterone – and plenty of it.

Butler can be next seen in Of Men and Mavericks, a biographical film in production about the life of American surfer Jay Moriarity directed by Curtis Henson and due for release on 2 November.
