God’s Pocket

Philip Seymour Hoffman and John Turturro in God's Pocket

Based on the novel by award winning author Pete Dexter, 1970’s set God’s Pocket is a darkly comic crime drama starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and an ensemble cast made up of some of independent film’s finest character actors including Richard Jenkins, Christina Hendricks, John Turturro, Eddie Marsan and Caleb Landry Jones.

Nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival 2014, God’s Pocket marks acclaimed actor John Slattery’s (Mad Men, The Adjustment Bureau) feature film directorial debut.

When Mickey’s (Seymour Hoffman) crazy stepson Leon (Landry Jones) is killed in a construction ‘accident’, nobody in the working class neighbourhood of God’s Pocket is sorry he’s gone.

Mickey tries to bury the bad news with the body, but when the boy’s mother (Hendricks) demands the truth, and a local reporter (Jenkins) starts sniffing around, Mickey finds his problems starting to stack up: a body he can’t bury, a wife he can’t please and a debt he can’t pay.

God’s Pocket is in UK cinemas on August 8
