Guillermo Del Toro To Direct Beauty And The Beast

Tale as old as time etc…

Guillermo Del Toro was previously down to produce a version of Beauty & The Beast but now he’s snatched the megaphone too (sources are vague as to whether he muttered “Gimme that” as he did so).

It was originally due to be an adaptation of Robin McKinley’s book Beauty: A Retelling Of The Story Of The Beauty And The Beast but apparently things have moved on a bit since, with Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones’s Diary and uh, The Three Musketeers) writing the script. No word yet on what that direction will be (although lets hope it’s not the direction that Beastly took)

Whatever happens, it probably won’t happen immediately as Del Toro busy (as always) with a multitude of projects including Trollhunters for DreamWorks, Jekyll & Hyde and Frankenstein for Universal and another Haunted Mansion film over at Disney.
