HBO’s Hobgoblin To Be Directed By Darren Aronofsky

Darren Aronofsky is making his small-screen directorial debut with HBO’s help. The Black Swan director has signed on the HBO’s latest high-budget drama, Hobgoblin, along with executive producers John Lesher (Magnolia, 21 Grams) and Adam Kassan.

Writing duties have been assigned to husband and wife team Michael Chabon (Spider-Man 2, John Carter) and Ayelet Waldman.

Hobgoblin is not, as you might expect, a spin off from the Spider-Man franchise, but a historical drama about magicians, Nazis and con men – a strange mix – but it promises to be another hit for HBO.

The storyline centres on said magicians and con men as they use their skills in deception and misdirection to help defeat Hitler – that is how Hitler was defeated, right?
