Holly Willoughby To Resurrect Surprise Surprise?

An unwelcome surprise?

As the pool of fresh TV show concepts runs ever drier, today brings news of yet another 80s revival on the cards.

Cilla Black’s tear-jerking reunion marathon, Surprise Surprise, is rumoured to be undergoing noughties makeover and “surprise surpriseâ€?, Holly Willoughby is favourite to host.

Despite presenting or participating in every other show on ITV, and ahead of her move to the Beeb’s The Voice this Spring, Holly is “still very much in the frame” to present, an insider claimed.

The light entertainment programme – which aired 14 emotional series and four specials between 1984 and 2001 – will be relaunched on ITV with a “modern twist”.

Surprise Surprise was a big hit when it aired in the ’80s and ’90s and viewers remember it fondly,” a source told The Sun.

“We’ll be updating the show and giving it a modern twist but the essence will still be the same.

“Some of the best episodes were when we reunited family members who hadn’t seen each other for decades, so we’ll hopefully be doing that again,” the source added.

It is not yet clear whether former Surprise Surprise stars Black, Christopher Biggins and Bob Carolgees will play any role in the revamped show.

Check out Cilla in her mustard suit singing those poignant words, “the more the world is changing, the more it stays the sameâ€?…seriously, what?
