Hollyoaks Star To Star In ‘New Mistresses’

A former Hollyoaks beauty is making a daring bid to prove she CAN act despite the bad reputation of actors in the C4 soap.

Emma Rigby will star in a new BBC drama which will follow the lives of women whose husbands are stuck in jail.Prisoners’ Wives promises viewers “an emotional roller coasterâ€? that follows the lives of four women who connect – and clash – as their partners do time.

Billed as a six part series with the same appeal as the hugely successful, Mistresses, expect it to arrive early in 2012.

Rigby plays Gemma, whose perfect world falls apart when her husband is charged with murder. Downton Abbey’s Iain Glen and Robin Hood hunk Jonas Armstrong also feature in the six-part series, which will be shown early next year.

An insider said: “It’ll warm the heart and have viewers reaching for the tissues.”
