All five Star Trek captains from the showâs half-century of broadcasting appeared at the UKâs first official Star Trek convention for more than ten years.
The event broke the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of fans dressed as Star Trek characters and also played host to the UKâs first Klingon wedding.
Hundreds of the many fans who attended also payed £95 to attend a question and answer session with the five captains – Kirk, Picard, Janeway, Sisko and Archer – whoâve only ever been in the same room together once before. According to the BBC, this makes it a rarer occurrence than having five U.S. President together.
For some, however, this wasnât enough and VIP tickets, allowing fans to spend time with the stars, were being sold for £3,000.
The highlights of the first day of the convention include William Shatner obliging a woman who âbrought out her left breast to be signedâ?, and Sir Patrick Stewart singing Happy Birthday to a fan.
