With House finally riding off into the sunset with Wilson (quite literally) Hugh Laurie has quite a large hole in his schedule, but rather than returning to the small screen, it seems that the British actor could be coming back to a cinema near you.
The man who won so much acclaim as the misanthropic medic could now be cast as the villain in the upcoming reboot of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 sci-fi classic RoboCop.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Laurie is currently in negotiations to take the role of the CEO of Omnicorp, the company that makes RoboCop, as played by Ronny Cox in the original movie.
Director Jose Padilha already has Joel Kinnaman (US Killing) lined up as the titular semi-cyborg, Samuel L Jackson as a powerful media mogul and Gary Oldman as the scientist who brings cop Alex Murphy back from the edge of death and turns him into Robocop.
