If it’s any consolation, we’d like to advise him that he was rubbish, he definitely wasn’t going to win and leaving under a publicity storm probably won’t do his ‘career’ much harm. A spot on Celebrity Big Brother awaits..
“I’m an idiot. What was I thinking?” The Sun quotes Frankie as saying. “People seemed to like me, despite the fact I can’t sing — and now I’ve blown it. I’ll regret this the rest of my life.”
Frankie was caught out after production staff overheard him boasting of how he had been noshing cocaine and partying with blondes after Saturday’s X Factor live show. They reported the news to their superiors, who fired him after a crisis meeting on Monday morning.
“Frankie has hung himself over this. He boasted about his crazy night out and thought it would be cool to talk about the drugs,” explained a source ruefully.
“He told a lot people he’d done it. I think he thinks it’s no big deal. But to people who watch the show it’s a huge deal. He’s been extremely naive.”
Frankie’s mentor Gary Barlow reported that his act had only had half an hour sleep on Saturday night after going clubbing and then partying into the small hours with two friends from Ashford, Kent.
One of the girls – revealed as Becca Hills – explained that they didn’t know that Frankie had been snorting cocaine. “We were invited through a friend of a friend to spend the night with Frankie,” she told The Sun.
“We went clubbing, then all went to an apartment for a party. Some stuff might have happened. He didn’t do anything wrong, but I’m guessing I won’t be seeing him again from what I’ve heard about him.”
Frankie’s dad Frank Snr said yesterday: “I’m heartbroken for Frankie. I spoke to him last night on the phone and neither of us saw this coming.”
Fans are this morning calling for Johnny Robinson or The Risk to be reinstated to avoid a “dull two-horse race”. ITV will be making a statement about this Saturday’s show this afternoon.
