ITV has launched an android app for its on-demand service, which will enable smartphone users the nation over to catch up on all ITV has to offer. The move follows the BBCâs decision to create a similar app for their iplayer service back in February. For once, Apple users will have to wait a while to be included, as although ITV has ambitions plans for the service they are waiting until autumn to launch their iphone app.
ITVâs managing director of online and on-demand, Robin Pembrooke, is, âvery excited to be launching our first ever ITV Player mobile app and genuinely believe that the simple design and high picture quality of this app is a leap forward in providing our customers with what they want to watch on the move.â?
Pembrooke also asserted this app is just the start of ITVâs plans for world domination â sorry, mobile strategy â and he soon plans to roll out ITV player across all number of platforms including ipads and Android OS tablets.
In order to take advantage of the service, potential viewers will have to be using an Android phone running Androidâs 2.2 operating system or later.
