Joe McElderry Wins Popstar To Operastar

Joe McElderry was crowned Popstar To Operastar champion last night and the former X Factor winner afterwards hinted that his second studio album could be on the way.

This will come as a surprise to many of us who didn’t realise that he’d recorded a first studio album…

The show which has been beset with poor viewing figures of late, was tipped as the perfect vehicle for McElderry to resurrect his career after being dumped from Simon Cowell’s record label. Many industry experts have privately admitted that the 20 year-old belongs on the stage and not in the studio.

The Geordie singer beat Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker in the final of the ITV talent show, but was quick to explain how well the pair got on after the result was announced. “I’ve had an absolute blast with Cheryl,” he told show host Myleene Klass. “I love her to bits.”

Baker was also quick to praise McElderry and tell viewers that she was delighted to get to the final. “I didnt expect to get this far and he’s fantastic,” she said. “I had my money on Joe from the beginning.”
