Jonathan Levine To Direct Marie Lu’s Legend

Jonathan-Levine210Thank goodness it’s not that Legend – I was just reaching for my nunchucks to lay the smack down on another remake. No, instead, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey (the producers behind The Twilight Saga) have snapped up the rights to Marie Lu’s Legend, an as yet unpublished young adult novel series set in a dystopian future and have hired The Wackness’ director Jonathan Levine to helm it.

The first book in the series will be published in November takes place a hundred years in the future where North America is split into two warring nations. Out of the chaos comes Day, a Robin Hood like figure who’s the country’s most wanted criminal. One side sends June, a teenage prodigy, after him in order to track him down (you know, as you do). The pair are caught in a game of cat and mouse until a they reveal a truth about their totalitarian leaders which forces them to work together.

It’ll be a while before production gets under way as Levine is busy polishing off cancer drama/comedy 50/50 with Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and is slated to direct zombie romance flick Warm Bodies with Nick Hoult and Teresa Palmer (is it me or she everywhere at the moment? Interview here) in the summer.
