Jeff Robinov, president of the Warner Bros motion picture group, has said in an interview with the L.A.Times that a Justice League film is currently being worked on, along with possible spin-offs for the Flash and Wonder Woman.
In the comics, the Justice League is an all-star team of super heroes that are supposed to be the ultimate force in fighting crime. Characters that have appeared in the series include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and the Martian Manhunter amongst others. Which of these will appear in the film is not yet clear, but with a huge roster of characters to choose from the final decision will likely be difficult – and with an adaptation of the Marvel equivalent – the Avengers – planned for the big screen, there will be two teams of heroes fighting it out for supremacy over the world of cinema.
DC Comics characters seem to be a big part of the Warner’s plans for the future, but Robinov has also said that the Batman series will get a reboot after Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.
“We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman,” he said. “Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is.”
The news about the Justice League will likely be well-received by fans, but a re-boot of the very popular Batman? We’ll have to wait and see.
