Karen Gillan Excited About “Best Ever” Doc Who Exit

Current Doctor Who sidekick, Amy Pond, is due to exit the show next series and has dubbed her exit “the best ever”.

The Time Lord has already been through three female sidekicks since the his 21st century rebirth and Karen Gillan will have enjoyed three series by the time she bows out later this year.

She is already getting excited about the audience reaction to the “damn good” end to her run as Pond.

The 24-year-old revealed: “The episodes are going to be damn good. It’s so exciting. I think it’s the best ever. I can’t say anything, but oh God, I’m dying to say something!”

The Scottish star – whose on-screen husband Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) is also departing the show – worked closely with series boss Steven Moffat to ensure her character got the ending she deserved, as she was determined to leave on a “high”.

Karen told IGN: “I called Steven Moffat and then basically told him roughly when I wanted to go. He told me where the story was at and where it was going and then we kind of together came up with it.

“Steven comes up with endless, amazing ideas anyway, but I wanted to make sure that I went on a high. There’s just something quite nice and appealing about that to me. I don’t know, it just felt right! I like to go on instinct.”

But Steven has previously revealed Amy and Rory will make a “heartbreaking” departure from the series. Surely a suicide pact would be a bit much for pre-watershed Beeb? And it hardly fits Gillan’s desire to go “on a high”. The mind boggles.
