“Lauren Socha’s Misfits Exit Nothing To Do With Assault Conviction..” Say E4

E4 bosses have confirmed that Lauren Socha will not return for the fourth series of hit show Misfits, but insist that the decision was made months before the actress’ recent conviction for racially-aggravated assault.

“A mutual decision was reached between Clerkenwell and Lauren earlier this year that she would not be returning for the fourth series,” announced the broadcaster in a statement. “Misfits has been in production for a number of weeks now and Lauren is not part of the lineup.”

The other two original cast members – Iwan Rheon and Antonia Thomas – will also not be returning said a spokesman, who told Digital Spy that the decision to ditch Socha wasn’t related to her recent court-case.

“No,” they said. “Clerkenwell Films and Lauren Socha agreed some time ago that along with other cast members, including Iwan Rheon and Antonia Thomas, she would not be returning for the fourth series of Misfits, which is currently in production. Channel 4 supports both parties’ decisions.”

BAFTA-winning Socha, who played Kelly Bailey in Misfits, was today convicted of racially-aggravated assault and handed a suspended prison sentence for punching a taxi driver in Derby after a going on a eight-hour drinking session with friends.
