Leonard Nimoy Joins Transformers 3

Leonard210Leonard Nimoy is to lend his stentorian tones to the next Transformers movie. The veteran actor who announced his retirement last year will be playing Sentinel Prime, the mentor of Optimus.

Nimoy’s no stranger to the Transformers franchise having voiced the recreated form of Megatron, Galvatron in the 1986 animated movie (you know, back when Transformers was good). Despite his familiarity with massive robots, director Michael Bay was apparently hesitant to call on his oratory talents.

“I was too scared to ask him,” he told Entertainment Weekly, “Plus, he’s married to Susan Bay, who’s a cousin of mine. So I had to be careful. I’ve met him at family functions. But he told me, ‘I would be honoured. I’m glad to be back!’”
