Mouthy mogul Simon Cowell has reportedly told X Factor bosses to “break the bank” in order to tempt gobby popstar Lily Allen into replacing him on the show.
Allen, 25, is said to have declined the offer, with a friend telling The Sun: “Lily was flattered to get Simon’s call. It’s a big job and an honour to be asked. But she’s not convinced.”
Her lukewarm response might have something to do with sharing the judging panel with people’s princess & hair-dye saleswoman Cheryl Cole. “I wish I looked like Cheryl Tweedy…” sang Allen on her debut album Smile, (referring to Chezza in her pre-WAG days), before revealing it was ‘ironic’. The pair’s longrunning feud has seen such big words as Cole calling Allen a “little girl”, with Allen retorting: “You stupid bitch”.
With those kind of cutting insults up her sleeve, you can see why Cowell wants her on the panel. Rumoured to be leaving the show to launch an American version this summer, Si-Co is trying desperately to find his own replacement, and he’s not a man likely to stop at ‘thanks, but no thanks’.
