Lindsay’s New ‘Gay Sitcom’ To Replace My Family?

My Family’s Richard Lindsay and Harry Potter anti-hero Richard Griffiths are to play a quirky gay couple in a new BBC sitcom.

According to The Mirror, the Beeb hope that the “quirky and warm comedy about a gay couple”, currently with the working title of George and Bernard Shaw, will fill the void left by My Family which will air its final episode this Christmas. While many viewers might suggest that rather than ‘leaving a void’, My Family was actually a ‘void’ itself, a source waxed lyrical about the new series..

“The BBC have commissioned a pilot and will make the call once it’s all wrapped up. But all signs point towards this being a perfect primetime vehicle,” said the source in PR-laden language. “The two big names involved show this could be very special.”

The BBC have yet to comment on the story, but the insider explained that filming should begin this autumn. “It’s slightly less than conventional in terms of the family set-up but it’s the 21st century and things move on,” they continued..
