The line up has been announced and voting is underway for the fifteenth annual TV Choice Awards. Voted for by the public, the ceremony honours the best and biggest the small screen has to offer with stars and shows from both side of the Atlantic ready to do battle for the coveted gongs.
Prizes up for grabs include Best Drama, Comedy, Gameshow, Soap and Reality, as well as Best Actor and Actress. Fighting it out this year will be HBO’s recent mega-budget offerings Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones alongside home-grown productions such as the ITV’s Downton Abbey, ITV’s Identity and Channel Four’s This Is England ’86.
The Only Way Is Essex leads the new scripted-reality charge as Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor face off once more, with Davina McCall’s The Million Pound Drop proving there is life after Tarrant’s interminable questioning. Martin Freeman (Sherlock), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), and Dame Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey) are among the candidates for best performance awards.
Hosted by Ben Miller (Primeval; The Armstrong and Miller Show) the awards bash will be held at London’s prestigious Savoy Hotel on the 13th September.
Voting for the awards is underway via post or online at tvchoicemagazine.co.uk, with shortlisting to take place in July.
