Andrew Lloyd Webber is rumoured to be desperate to have U2 frontman Bono on the panel of his new ITV talent show.
The musical mogul is expected to chuck a sizeable sum of cash the Irish rock starâs way in a bid to secure him for the Jesus Christ Superstar talent hunt.
A source said: “It’s definitely a long shot, there’s no doubt about that.
“But Andrew is keen to get Bono on board and if anyone could pull off something like this, then it is him.”
The team behind the show is so desperate to land the busy U2 frontman they have squished the reality search into a two-week special this summer.
Former Pussycat bum jiggler, Nicole Scherzinger, has been confirmed as a dead cert for the reality search panel. The lucky kitten has also managed to bag herself a role as Mary in the planned arena tour of the show when it launches later this year.
What with talk of international rock star panellists, it appears that the concerns of Lloyd Webberâs former writing partner on the stage show, Tim Rice, have been well and truly dismissed.
Speaking to The Sun back in January, Rice said: âIâve had several meetings with Andrew and said that I donât want this done but now it appears itâs been signed and sealed.
âAndrew wants to rehash things all the time but I donât think Superstar needs that tasteless reality television treatment. Those shows are relentlessly downmarket which is fine if the show is a lightweight bit of fluff.
âI am fully behind an arena show but I just donât think you need another television series to do that.â?
âIt sounds tacky and I really donât think Andrew should do it.â?
âThe Lordâ? thanks you for your time and talent Mr Rice, but he really couldnât give a flying âbit of fluffâ? what you think.
