Surprise eviction of two Islanders from the least compatible couples saw Joe Garratt and Elma Pazar leave Love Island and Twitter couldn’t get enough of it.
It is often said that some people gravitate towards dysfunctional relationships because they find comfort in the familiarity of it – whatever that means. But in a bizarre twist last night, after a collective public cheer at the eviction of Joe, there was an equally contrite guilt pause as his Island partner Lucie wept.
Okay, forget that they’ve known each other for about 2 minutes and that this a game show with £50k up for grabs, of the couples on show, this pair were perversely the best suited.
And poor old Elma, she arrived with high hopes and a gob like a fisherman’s wife, but bitchiness and failure to spot the snake-like behaviour of her ‘friend’ Maura (who is with Anton but is unsubtly laying it out for model Tom) meant she was soon packing her bags too.
Love goes by haps; Some Cupid kills with arrows, some with traps … and others with public votes and social media apps.
Here are some of the best Twitter reactions to last night’s fun.

Difficult to get a bead on someone’s character from 45 minutes of footage each day. When Joe gets home he might want to stay offline for a while … until the flaming dies down.

Er, I think we made a mistake. Can we vote again please?

So farewell Elma and goodbye Joe. You been offed by the public who thought you were in the least compatible couples. You’ll probably be disappointed and most likely feel aggrieved. So I’ll leave this clip. Just sayin’.
sorry but did anyone else see this 😂#LoveIsland pic.twitter.com/fviii11HHo
